The Chasm
A downloadable game for Windows
Made for the level design jam "Machines and the City" hosted by Steve Lee.
On the mostly the city-side of the theme, I went with an idea of intersecting networks and authorities, competing to control the environment, shown with distinct aesthetics, which extend to the look and feel of locks and their keys (e.g. terminals activated by floppy disks).
Built on top of prototyping in UE5 for a new FPS game. Bit boomer-shooter-ish (fast movement, big jumps, crouch jump, no ADS, but not the masses of enemies). I was trying to keep the actual play area relatively small, while making the surrounding environment feel large, though the play area still ended up overambitious. Was also trying to more consciously think about pacing with peaks and valleys of excitement.
